RARE COLLECTIBLE EDITIONS FROM THE COLLECTION OF BASIL HALL, JO DIGGENS AND MONIQUE AURICCHIO

The Nancy Sever Gallery is pleased to present Rare Collectible Editions  an exhibition of limited edition prints from the collections of Basil Hall, Monique Auricchio and Jo Diggens.

 These three master printmakers worked together in Darwin at Charles Darwin University’s Northern Editions and at Basil Hall Editions from 1996 until 2012.

During this time they collaborated with hundreds of artists from over fifty-five remote indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, Western Australia, South Australia and further afield, as well as with indigenous and non-indigenous artists from the major cities. They made prints with some of the country’s most celebrated senior artists. 

Traditionally, a collaborating printer assists an artist technically in the making of her/his etching, relief print, lithograph or screenprint. Once the plates and blocks have been drawn by the artist and editioned by the printmaker, an additional copy is pulled for the archive of the workshop and another for the collaborator or lead printer. It is these special prints that feature in this exhibition.

The editions that Basil, Monique and Jo produced have almost all sold out, so it is a special occasion when Printer’s Proofs and Artist’s Proofs of such exceptional works find their way onto the market.

Some of the important artists represented in Rare Collectible Editions are: Regina Wilson, Lena Nyadbi, Fiona Hall, Judy Watson, Dennis Nona, Marrnyula Munungurr, Freddy Timms, Banduk Marika, Wukun Wanambi, Jimmy Galareya Namarnyilk and Lily Sandover.

Rare Collectible Editions is on show from 12 December 2021 to 23 January 2022. The gallery will be closed from 24 December to 11 January 2022. Acquisitions may be collected before Xmas.
